Build a Website with Sites@Grinnell

Take your spot on the web with a custom website. The Grinnell College Digital Liberal Arts Collaborative (DLAC) offers Sites@Grinnell for representing teaching, scholarship, and other projects on the internet. Sites@Grinnell is a free web hosting and digital publishing platform available to all members of the Grinnell College community.

  • Sign up for a domain of your own at https://sites.grinnell.edu/ >Request a Domain.
  • Get front-line support with Mo Pelzel, Director of Academic Technology, and Tierney Steelberg, Digital Liberal Arts Specialist [dlac@grinnell.edu] to create your account and design and develop your site.
  • Enjoy advanced troubleshooting, robust backup, and a strong security infrastructure from Grinnell’s DLAC partners.
  • View samples on the Community Gallery.

For feedback on your idea and help getting started, make an appointment with a Career Community Director or Exploratory Adviser at the CLS. Plan to discuss how to:

  • take your job and internship search strategy to the next level
  • get started on a compelling website that reflects your unique talents and passions
  • stand out from the crowd when applying for internships, jobs, awards, or artistic endeavors
  • hone your professional narrative in a free, easy, and surprisingly fun medium

Other providers for creating a personal website quickly and easily (meaning you don’t need to know about webhosting or writing code) include free platforms like Wix. According to FORBES, 56 percent of hiring managers find online portfolios more impressive than other job application materials (résumés, cover letters, etc.). Yet, only 7 percent of job seekers have an online portfolio. For more information, reach out to DLAC or make an appointment in Handshake today and get ready to stand out from the crowd.
