We appreciate how busy you can be and understand that, at times, you need to make last-minute adjustments to your schedule. Please note the following CLS attendance policies. These policies apply to both current students and alumni.
Appointments with CLS Advisers
If you have an appointment and need to cancel or reschedule, you can do so via Handshake, by calling the CLS at 641-269-4940, or by email (career@grinnell.edu). Appointments are in high demand, so this proactive step maximizes adviser availability.
A no-show appointment is considered any appointment for which a student or alum fails to attend without cancelling (via Handshake, email, or calling). Generally, if you are 10 or more minutes late to the appointment, you will be considered a “no-show.” If you no-show for a scheduled appointment with a CLS adviser, you may receive an email checking in on your absence to ensure that all is well and to underscore the importance of keeping or cancelling your appointments in advance. Persistent no-shows may result in losing access to advising and other resources.
Events Hosted by the CLS
Students who register for CLS events are expected to attend or cancel by the stated deadline. For events that carry a per-participant financial cost or have limited capacity, students who no-show or fail to cancel on time may be charged a fee or face restrictions on future participation. No-shows can prevent other students from accessing opportunities and may adversely affect both the student’s professional reputation and the College’s relationships with employers, alumni, and other partners. Specific fees and cancellation deadlines will be communicated during registration.
