The Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS) supports that journey through eight Career Communities. Each community connects students with advisers, resources, programs, alumni, employers, and opportunities tailored to broad areas of interest. Whether you’re still exploring or already focused on a particular field, there’s a place for you in the Career Communities.
Exploratory Advising
Every first-year and transfer student begins in the Exploratory Career Community. Working with a exploratory adviser, students reflect on their interests, values, strengths, and goals while learning about the many opportunities available at Grinnell and beyond. Exploratory Advisers help students make sense of possibilities, gain confidence in their decision-making, and prepare to engage more in-depth with industry-focused career communities and other resources.
Industry-Focused Career Communities
Our industry-focused Career Communities provide specialized advising and resources for students interested in exploring particular career fields. Through one-on-one conversations, workshops, alumni networking, employer engagement, experiential opportunities, and curated resources, students can deepen their understanding of industries, build professional connections, and take meaningful steps toward their future goals.
