Here’s the latest from Ian: “Hi! I currently work as a psychiatrist working with people experiencing homelessness in Skidrow and greater Los Angeles . I am trained in psychiatry and internal medicine. I went to med school at Rutgers-NJMS in Newark, NJ, completed med-psych residency at Tulane in New Orleans, and long, long ago did Grinnell Corps in New Orleans after graduating in 2013 (Biology major). I approach my doctor-work as a labor grounded in thinking about social justice, combatting the evils of capitalism, and supporting the most marginalized folks in our society. I love talking about psychoanalytic practice. Frantz Fanon, Maria Yellow Horse Brave Heart, and Judith Herman are all guiding lights for me.”

Ian enjoys happy memories from Grinnell College including Posse, the concerts committee, SOL, and KDIC 88.5 radio. For current students, Ian invites: “Please feel free to reach out to learn more about working as a doctor or mental health work more broadly, applying to medical school, etc. I am dual trained in internal medicine and psychiatry, so I can be helpful to you in learning more about either. I am not active on linkedin whatsoever, so please reach out to my email instead.”
