Post-Grad Apprenticeships

Many arts, media, and communications organizations offer year- or season-long paid apprenticeships/internships, which can be great ways to gain in-depth, field-specific training. Here are some sample programs. For summer or semester-long internships, check out the Internships page.

Advertising + Marketing

  • Havas Health & You has a fellowship program in health advertising and communications as well as a junior creative program.
  • RF Binder has an associate program for recent graduates interested in a career in marketing and communications in their New York City and Boston offices.

  • IRTS (New York, NY) has a broadcast sales associate program intended to increase diversity in the media and entertainment industry.
  • NPR offers a fellowship designed to identify and develop the next generation of extraordinary public media journalists.
  • WarnerMedia Access is a talent development program that provides mentorship, placement opportunities, and industry exposure for underrepresented talent.

Dance

  • American Dance Festival (Durham, NC) offers summer and year-round internships in arts administration and production.
  • The Jadin Wong Fellowship recognizes an emerging Asian American dance artist in New York City.
  • The Juilliard School ​(New York, NY) offers professional apprenticeships in various areas of dance, drama, music, and arts administration.

Design – Toys

  • Lego (multiple locations worldwide) periodically offers internships.

Film + TV

  • Arts2Work has an apprenticeship program for culturally diverse artists, mediamakers with disabilities, and low-income college grads.
  • Disney Professional Internships are available in many film/TV areas. This link will lead you to all Disney internships, as well as internships for ABC, ESPN, Lucasfilm, and Marvel.
  • NBCUniversal offers a range of internships.
  • Nickelodeon (Burbank, CA) has an Artist ProgramWriting Program, and an Intern Program. ​​​​​​​
  • OTV​ ​(Chicago, IL) has a fellowship program for emerging writers and directors identifying with multiple communities that have been historically marginalized in the film + TV business.
  • Turner (multiple locations) offers summer and semester-long internships in TV, news, and entertainment, as well as post-graduate apprenticeships.
  • United Talent Agency (multiple locations) has an agent training program.
  • Warner Media Group has internships spread across its divisions – HBO, Turner, and Warner Bros.
  • WarnerMedia Access is a talent development program that provides mentorship, placement opportunities, and industry exposure for underrepresented talent.

  • Chicago Magazine (Chicago, IL) accepts internship applications on a rolling basis.
  • INSIDER (New York, NY) offers 6-month fellowships.
  • Mother Jones offers 6-month and 12-month fellowships in its New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. offices.

  • Smithsonian offers fellowships at their various museums and research centers.

  • Graywolf Press (Minneapolis, MN) offers a 10-month fellowship intended to promote diversity in the publishing field.
  • Scholastic has an Associate Program designed to identify, mentor, and develop the next generation of technology leaders.
