We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as a full-time research assistant for a period of at least one year. Our preferred start date is July 1, 2027 although earlier or later start dates may be feasible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The first review is November 1, 2026, and we will continue to review applications received after this date until the position is filled.
The job will entail close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing research projects across a wide range of fields in accounting, corporate finance, and applied microeconomics. Research topics include but are not limited to competition, corporate disclosure, financial reporting, intangible capital, healthcare, innovation, M&A, and regulation. Candidates will work directly with Professors Christian Leuz and Christopher Stewart. Previous holders of this position at Chicago Booth have gone on to leading accounting, finance, and economics Ph.D. programs, such as those at Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, University of Chicago, and Wharton.
If interested, please fill out our online survey (https://forms.gle/RoWDYHeyW6QCu3Fp8) and this formal application (https://uchicago.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/External/job/Chicago-IL/Research-Professional_JR34816 ). The ideal candidate will have (i) a strong quantitative background, (ii) strong computer and data management skills, including experience using AI tools for research and data analysis, (iii) the ability to work independently to solve problems, (iv) strong communication skills, and (v) a long-term interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in accounting, finance, or economics. Interest in or prior knowledge in accounting or corporate finance is a plus, but not necessary—we welcome candidates (and have had prior RPs) with a broad range of backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to these fields. We pay a competitive salary and provide standard benefits such as health insurance.
