Conversations to Remember is seeking dedicated young adults to help combat loneliness in older adults through weekly video visits. The program offers:
- Intergenerational Connection: Build genuine friendships with older adults, including those living with dementia.
- Professional Growth: Training on communication and empathy is provided, which is invaluable for students interested in healthcare, social work, or psychology.
- Accessibility: The program is fully virtual (one hour per week), making it easy for students to balance with a heavy course load.
- Sustainability: While we ask for a 16-week commitment, many students choose to continue for years.
The virtual visit program matches teams of 2-3 college students with older adults for weekly virtual video visits. Each call lasts up to one hour, based on the senior’s attention span and mood on each day. Students select the times that work for their schedule, and are matched with older adults for calls based on the times when they’re available. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 16 weeks, so that they can develop friendships with the senior they’re matched with.
