W. W. Norton & Company is an independent, employee-owned publisher, focusing on publishing books that educate, inspire, and endure. In the College department, we work with the most important voices of our day to release textbooks that support today’s students and instructors. Increasingly, that includes not only physical books, but also an interactive ebook platform, videos, online problem sets, and more.
The Associate Media Editor is an essential part of the Economics team. This person will be responsible for the quality and timeliness of digital teaching, learning, and assessment resources and will report to the Media Editor for Economics.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
- Recruiting, signing, training, and communicating with authors and subject matter experts for a wide variety of editorial projects.
- Working closely with fellow editors, designers, production managers, product managers, and engineers.
- Planning, developing, and implementing pedagogically useful and innovative content to be used in digital teaching, learning, and assessment resources.
- Managing vendor selection, scheduling, and budgeting for digital production.
- Managing projects in all stages of editorial development and production, including asset management and documentation.
- Collaborating closely with colleagues in media and print editorial, production, and permissions to ensure quality and timeliness of materials.
- Clearly documenting and communicating updates with all team members throughout the duration of a project.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the US
- Able to work full business hours
- Prior experience in college publishing, ideally at least one and a half years in an editorial role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
