Service Opportunities During Spring Break

Are you staying in Grinnell over spring break? Check out these options to engage in community service over break:

Food Recovery Network

Food Recovery Network will be working over spring break to continue recovering food! If you’re not familiar with FRN, we are a student organization working to recover 4000-6000 pounds of food per semester, feeding nearly 250 food insecure families in our county! Since a lot of our current volunteers may not be on campus for Spring Break, we are looking for students who will be on campus over the spring break to volunteer. Please note that even if you are a current volunteer and you would like to volunteer over spring break, we ask you to sign up again. Please use this Signup Genius link to sign up for shifts. A brief description of the shifts: Pickup is great if you’re not able to commit a longer time chunk since shifts take less than 10 minutes! Repackaging is a great way to get to know volunteers from First Presbyterian Church on 5th Ave. The volunteers also like getting to interact with students from the college, so it’s fun for everyone! Delivery is a great opportunity to go on a fun car ride off campus around Grinnell delivering meals to the community! Just as a reminder, it is very important for you to show up for your shifts, otherwise the food goes to waste. If for any reason you’re not able to make it to a particular shift, please let us know. Please reach out to us with any questions or click here to join our mailing list to stay up-to date with FRN!

Mobile Clinic

There are a limited number of spots for trained volunteers to participate in Mobile Clinic over break. If you have completed training and would like to participate, please email the Health Pros Volunteer Leader, Ashley Pacheco, or Associate Director of Service and Social Innovation, Ryan Solomon to coordinate transportation through the CLS. NOTE: There is a new process for Grinnell volunteer sign up so PLEASE DO NOT volunteer for a shift without speaking with Ashley or Mr. Solomon!
