What is a technical interview? It is when you are required to perform a specific activity or assignment to demonstrate your knowledge, ability, and method from start to finish. The variance of tasks may depend on your vocation and are subject to take place before or during your interview process. This video will help you to expect any challenges as you prepare for your technical interview.

If you're facing an upcoming technical interview, you may find questions, have a slightly different spin from those asked in a standard interview. Mainly questions that are just a little more tech focused. It's important to understand this variation, so as to not be caught off guard and unprepared. Not to worry, we've got you covered. (upbeat music) First, let's define the technical interview. Here's some key components and differences. The technical interviews, typically utilized for positions in science, engineering, and I.T. But others could be included in this list as well. Technical interview questions, aim confirm your understanding of specific technologies. Technical interviews will commonly test your reasoning, problem solving and or critical thinking capabilities. You may be asked to complete a task-based activity in order to prove your skills. Such as a brainteaser, or a technical challenge. The important thing about the technical interview, is that it can encompass many styles of questions. For instance, here's some example questions about your education. What technical certification do you have? What do you do to keep your technical skills current? And here are some tools and system type question examples. What are your favorite technologies and why? How do you manage source code? A few problem solving or critical thinking examples. How would you defend a Cross-Site Scripting attack? When would you denormalize a database? As you can see, these can be quite specific. So the best thing you can do, is research the company, and study the job description in order to get familiar with the technologies they use in their business. Answering these questions is really no different than answering any other standard interview questions. You will want to be thorough in your responses and give detailed tangible examples where you can. Be confident and descriptive about how you can help the company succeed. And of course, never exaggerate your level of knowledge or skill. Finally, you might get hit with a random brainteaser or a task-based challenge, in order to test your reasoning and or technical abilities. The interviewer could ask you to debug a program. Or give an assignment prior to the interview that relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Then ask questions specific to the assignment. Here are some tips for answering task-based questions like these. If you don't understand something, then ask for clarification. Take your time and stay composed. It's not always about finding the right answer. They're testing to see how your mind works and how composed you remain under pressure.
