>> My name is Louise Gaile and I'm the Director of Student Conduct here at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. My main responsibility is to uphold our policies and procedures that we have here for our students on the university campus. If a student came into my office it would be because they have violated one of our student codes, and we have a student code of conduct that they go by and if one of those violations -- it could be brought by a faculty member, a student, or it could be brought by the university police. Violation of drug policy. We have a no tolerance drug policy here on campus, zero. Fighting is automatic suspension from the university. Now, if a student -- if I get a report from a faculty member or another student with say, a complaint with a student's behavior then I would set up an appointment for the student to come in to see me. If it's an appointment that I've set up, the student will come in, I will give them a copy of the complaint and then I would ask the student to tell me their side of the story. A pre-hearing is where I have all the information that has been brought against the student, so I bring the student in so they could have a copy of everything that I have so -- and then from the pre-hearing I set up the conduct hearing where they would go before a student conduct board.
