Service Leadership Work-Study (SLWS)
Fall Application Deadline: Sunday, August 27th
Supported by funds from Federal Department of Education, alumni donors, and the Grinnell College operating budget, the Service Leadership Work-Study Program provides students with paid opportunities to serve local non-profits working on a range of community issues, from local arts, to food access, to migration issues. Service learning work-study positions offer 3-10 hours of paid service a week, while class is in session. By offering discrete hourly pay, these positions provide sustained engagement with a community partner, who works with students to identify particular projects that could add value to work of the community organization. All round, these are rich and meaningful engagement opportunities, supported by professional development and reflection. Because this is a cohort experience, designed to build community across the various service-learning work study positions, students participating in the program will join together in community building and professional development with their peers (a total of 5 paid hours per semester).
All positions are posted on Handshake and require a cover letter and resume.
