Publications & Presentations on Résumé/CV
If you’ve published or presented work–often from research experience–be sure to properly show it off on your application materials! This is especially important for applications within academia, such as graduate & professional school or research positions.
These items should be presented on your résumé or CV as full citations, with your name in bold. They might be in a separate section (if you have several citations to include) or the citation might simply be the final bullet point in the associated research experience.
For presentations, include:
- author list
- title
- type of presentation (e.g., poster or oral presentation)
- venue (name of the conference, symposium, etc.) and year
- location (city and state/country)
McCall, R & Lindgren, C. 2023, November 11. Effect of temperature on gene expression in the zebrafish olfactory system. Poster presentation. Midstates Consortium for Math & Science Undergraduate Research Symposium. St. Louis, MO.
If you’re a co-author on a manuscript, it can be listed on your CV once it’s been submitted to a journal for peer review. During the review & revision process your citation will not include a journal title but will include the stage of review: submitted for review; under review; in revision. Once your article is “in press” it can be designated as such with the journal added.
