HBS Online Credentials of Readiness (CORe) Program

The Center for Careers, Life, and Service has formed a partnership with the Harvard Business School to promote the HBS Online Credential of Readiness (CORe) program. Designed by faculty members at Harvard Business School, the HBS Online CORe uses Harvard’s case-study teaching framework to introduce students to the fundamentals of business thinking. Through an asynchronous online platform, students complete three modules: business analytics, economics for managers, and financial accounting. The program requires a commitment of 10-12 hours per week over a period of 10 weeks to complete (approximately 110 hours total). At the conclusion, participants take a comprehensive assessment to earn their HBS Online Credential of Readiness. This opportunity is perfect for rising second-and third-year students interested in pursuing careers and leadership roles in all industries and across all economic sectors (private, non-profit, government). Graduating seniors and alumni are also welcome to apply!

Due to its online format, students may participate in HBS Online CORe simultaneously with internship, job, or research experience as long as you can devote 10-12 hours per week over a 10-week period to this opportunity.

How to apply: Visit https://online.hbs.edu/courses/core/

The application includes a general online application form, responses to a few mathematical questions, and two short essays.

Cost: $2,500

Funding support: Grinnell College has established a formal partnership with HBS Online so Grinnell students may be eligible for scholarships from Harvard to defray the costs of the CORe program. To be considered for a scholarship, students must give Grinnell College permission to share their need-level with Harvard as part of the HBS Online CORe application. Students for whom the cost of participation may be prohibitive may contact Mike Lawrence to explore possible additional funding.
