Grinnell Health Advocacy and Mentorship Program (GHAMP)

Students who would like to talk with knowledgeable students about healthcare, including understanding and managing healthcare benefits, can make a one-on-one appointment by emailing ghamp@studentorg.grinnell.edu. Look for the GHAMP advocates tabling regularly outside the JRC during the school year.

The Grinnell Health Advocacy and Mentorship Program (GHAMP), new in the fall of 2023, is a student organization that seeks to promote health literacy among Grinnell College students and help students mitigate barriers to care, especially those stemming from Grinnell’s rural location. GHAMP hosts educational events related to healthcare navigation and public health, as well as provides one-on-one mentorship to students who would like guidance navigating their health care. We seek to connect students with resources and provide information regarding the healthcare system. Mentors, available for appointments during the school year, do their best to maintain privacy but are required to be mandatory reporters if there is concern for a student’s health or safety. The email address will be monitored sporadically over the summer.
