Disclosing your Disability

When disclosing a disability it is important to know if you qualify as a disabled person under the ADA. At Grinnell, the Office of Accessibility and Disability Resources may help students assess if they qualify. Once you know you qualify what do you do with this information? It is important to know that you do NOT have to disclose at any point in the application or employment process. Whether you disclose is entirely up to you.  However, if you do choose to disclose you may do so:

  1. In your resume, cover letter, or other application documents
  2. In a request for reasonable accommodation during the interview process
  3. In an interview
  4. After you have accepted a position and are working for an organization
