CLS Transportation Resources for Students
Grinnell students may seek assistance from the CLS for transportation under the following circumstances.
- Professional Development Grants—for third- and fourth-year students—are available to assist with the expenses associated with attending a professional conference, among other non-travel related costs. Please note students presenting research (as in a MAP) at a conference should first apply for funding through the Dean’s Office by submitting their Student Conference Travel Form.
- Graduate School Grants may assist with transportation expenses to/from admission test administration sites for third- and fourth-year students.
- Transportation needs for Service Activities and Community-Engaged Classes may be addressed by the Civic Activity arm of the CLS. Please note there is no guarantee of transportation. See the series of action steps students may take to request transportation assistance.
Once you’ve received funding, who do you contact to arrange transportation? Transportation to locations within a 60-mile radius may be reserved through the Grinnell College Carpool Office located in Facilities Management. To verify your request is an approved event, you should note the type of grant received and provide the details of your travel. CLS grant recipients are responsible for payment and must provide the necessary account number on the reservation form.
Drivers are limited; therefore, transportation is not guaranteed and should be reserved ASAP.
The following two forms may be completed by students to initiate the transportation reservation process.
- Airport Transportation Request Form (Note: You must submit this form twice if you need taken to and picked up from either the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids airports.)
- Non-Airport Transportation Request Form
