Virtual externships available March 2026 for two (co-externs)
During this week, you will be exposed to the core components of public relations in a financial setting (www.hopucap.com). You will gain insights into:
- Strategic Communications: How PR supports brand building, investor relations, and portfolio company value creation.
- Media Relations: The process of drafting press releases, pitching stories to financial journalists, and managing media inquiries.
- Content Creation: Observing the development of thought leadership articles, executive presentations, and internal communications.
- The Private Equity Landscape: Understanding the business model of PE and why effective communication is critical for fundraising, deal-making, and reputation management.
- Professional Skills: Witnessing firsthand the soft skills—professionalism, discretion, and strategic thinking—required to succeed in a corporate environment.
Returning host Maggie Bian (she/her) is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of HOPU Investments. She has more than 15 years of experience in the asset management industry in Asia. Prior to joining HOPU in 2024, she was the Managing Director at YF Capital and Executive Director at Hillhouse Capital, primarily responsible for portfolio management, human resources, and investor relations across Asian offices. She started her career as an equity analyst at Alliance Bernstein in New York and Hong Kong.
Maggie holds a Master’s degree in East Asian studies from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College.
