The Southeast Valley Community School District is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled 6th Grade Literacy Teacher to inspire a love of reading and writing in middle school students. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and language, while fostering critical thinking and strong communication skills.

Southeast Valley is located in central Iowa and comprises 4 academic centers. The High School is in Gowrie, The middle school (grades 5-8) in Burnside, Dayton houses Preschool to 4th grade as well as a daycare facility. There is another PK-4 elementary a few miles north of Farnhamville. Depending on where you live, you can get to Fort Dodge in 30 minutes or less, Ames is an hour or less, and Des Moines is just over an hour or less. Southeast Valley has a certified enrollment of 1,045 students.

Southeast Valley is a proud district known for dedicated staff, engaged families, and a strong sense of community. Our high school emphasizes high expectations, whole-child development, and a welcoming environment where every student belongs. The District is extremely stable financially. High School classes range from 70 to 90 students.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Iowa Teaching License
  • Any applicant not currently endorsed in the advertised area, but willing to obtain the necessary licensure will be considered.

Compensation Package

  • $50,000+ depending on experience
  • a retirement pension (IPERS)
  • Fully paid dental, vision, and health insurance (Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield)
