Here is an exciting opportunity to teach, and you don’t even have to be in the Grinnell teaching licensure program or be graduating with a teaching license to qualify! Announcing the STEM Teacher Intern Three Year Program in the Council Bluffs Community School District. International students who qualify for STEM OPT are encouraged to apply and would even be sponsored for an H1B visa by the Council Bluffs Community School District if they want to remain teaching in the U.S. after the end of this 3-year program.
Here is more information from the school district:
Council Bluffs Community Schools is hiring at least 6 new math teachers and 2 science teachers at the middle/high school level. We would love to hire students with a passion for math and science who may not have considered teaching before. Also, we would love to hire international students who qualify for STEM-OPT.
If you are interested, please send your resume and transcripts to jfoster@cbcsd.org for review to ensure you’ve completed the proper coursework. If you have the proper coursework, the next step will be:
-interview with principals and receive an offer
-apply and be accepted to Morningside University’s Teacher Intern MAT Program
Positions would start with pre-service training on August 1. (this can be negotiated if your visa status requires a different start date). Classes start on August 25.
Teacher contracts are for 10 months; however, pay is stretched over 12 months, and there are opportunities for summer work as well. The MAT program lasts for two years; during the third year, if both the Teacher and the District want to continue the employment relationship, the District will pursue H1B visa status on behalf of the teacher.
