As a participating institution in the University of Oxford’s Global Map System (MTS) program, Grinnell College students now have access to a new asynchronous online systems thinking learning program.
What: Six modules and accompanying activities that empower students to think differently about how to catalyze social and environmental change. Students who complete all six modules will earn a certificate of completion from the Skoll Centre, based at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Module Content:
- Understanding complex social and environmental problems
- Adopting a systems approach
- Methods for learning about systems
- Tools for systems analysis
- Tools for systems mapping
- Moving from analysis to action
How:
- Access and register for the University of Oxford Map the System online learning program. The learning program will save your progress.
- You can return to the online course by using your name and email address from the login/registration page.

Additional Systems Thinking Opportunities: Apply your systems thinking skills to research an issue you care about by forming or joining a Grinnell College Map the System team! Map the System student teams will share a final research presentation later this spring and one team will have a chance to attend the Map the System global final competition in Oxford, UK to be held July 3-6, 2025.
