The PPIA Junior Summer Institute (JSI) Fellowship Program is a seven-week rigorous, graduate-level preparation program for undergraduate juniors committed to public service careers.
The program consists of classes and co-curricular activities that promote the professional and personal development of emerging public service leaders. The JSI curriculum includes economics, statistics, domestic/international policy issues, and leadership topics, all designed to sharpen the students’ quantitative, analytic, and communication skills. The program was started to address the lack of diversity across the spectrum of professional public service, including government, nonprofits, public policy institutions, and international organizations.
Benefits:
- Full tuition at a PPIA Junior Summer Institute.
- Eligibility to receive assistance with travel expenses.
- A stipend between $1,000 – $2,000.
- University housing with a meal plan.
- Books and related course materials.
- GRE preparation and career guidance coaching.
- Minimum of a one-time $5,000 scholarship to a PPIA graduate school if admitted for a Master’s degree.
Eligibility:
- U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents. International students are eligible for select institutes at Carnegie Mellon, Princeton, and University of Washington.
- Rising seniors (expected graduation date between December 2025 and August 2026).
- Must be committed to pursuing a Master’s degree in public policy or international affairs.
