The results are in!

Almost 200 Grinnellians completed the CLS’s recent student survey—thank you! Here’s what you told us:

  • You want to know more about networking with Grinnell alumni. Connecting with alumni is a great way to learn about life after Grinnell. Keep an eye out for our virtual student-alum meetups, which offer you a quick low-stakes connection with multiple alums in one event. The next meetup is on November 16 with alumni in arts, media, and communications. Looking ahead, Michael Lawrence will lead a master class in networking during winter break.
  • You could use some help with résumés and cover letters. Check out the Iron Out Your Résumé workshop on November 10.
  • You’re especially eager to work with the Exploratory Career Community and get involved with civic activity. First year students, have you met with your exploratory adviser yet?

Over half of you reported that while you have some ideas about what you want to do after graduation, you’re still exploring options. If you’re not sure about your post-grad path, don’t worry! You’re in good company, and the CLS is here to help. Consider taking an assessment or applying for an externship to get some ideas about potential careers.

Finally, you did really cool things last summer! You told us about summer experience in health tech, economic research, canine cognition, environmental stewardship, teaching, software development, cancer research, customer service, athletics, and more. We can’t wait to help you find your next adventure.

Thank you for the time you spent on this survey. Watch this space to see more of what we’re doing in response to what you shared with us.
